Still working with the Felicity Jane kits, they are so awesome. I love that many of the papers from different kits will work together, they often have a black and white added in. The first page is from the Just Sayin' kit (sold out now). I couldn't resist using the small dot for the background although I've had to try to find substitute papers for my girls since there is only one in a kit. I added a few puffy stickers from Close to My Heart, Thickers from American Crafts, and a simple rub on (she is). Loved the acrylic heart in this kit and the tissue confetti. Keep in mind that normally I would add a lot more to these pages but need to keep the reproduction down to 30 minutes - no more. It's a challenge to make them cute while still keeping them super SIMPLE.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The next page installment is a simple classic "L" layout, this one is on plain white cardstock with just a touch of Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine to keep the background from being too boring. The fun acrylic letters in this kit really helped it pop. Added a few Coral Reef Sequins and Smoothie bakers twine from Close to My Heart. The rest of the stuff is from Felicity Jane (sigh - I love her designs).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy_49PdKP4ILIj60ijDYE_haOrq6Y-V2xdVRPRx2DsEr2YJywM4D6ubKTflLJJS33aBJpH4Aee8F5sErquysKiW6tAvKXG-63F3NMYUELAHJrHWExqSY8nnormVQOrPjSda40VEu-7stE/s1600/Anna.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy_49PdKP4ILIj60ijDYE_haOrq6Y-V2xdVRPRx2DsEr2YJywM4D6ubKTflLJJS33aBJpH4Aee8F5sErquysKiW6tAvKXG-63F3NMYUELAHJrHWExqSY8nnormVQOrPjSda40VEu-7stE/s400/Anna.jpg" width="342" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Also love her stamps they are so usable, not so stylized that they will only work with some things yet not at all boring, notice the cute "a day to" stamp - love it! Here's a close up of those fun letters.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was mostly made with the "Best Day" kit - also sold out - guess you can see why. Because I work full time as a scrapbook artist sometimes I'm not very motivated to scrapbook at home, but these kits really get me excited - they rock!</div>

So it's been an incredibly long time since I posted on this blog. Too much to do and too little time! But I promised myself that I would at least post next years (2016) calendar pages as I finished them. For those of you who might be interested - I create 12 scrapbook pages each year trying to capture memories of each family member. These pages are re-produced during the Christmas holidays with my daughters and daughter-in-law. So there are a few restrictions - <b>the pages must be able to be re-produced in 30 minutes or less!! </b>We only have about 6 hours to get it all done. Obviously I precut all the main pieces for them. It's so much fun! We laugh and talk and of course make more great memories. The dads and grandpa take all the kids out bowling or sledding then out for lunch. It's a tradition that we've been doing for ten or more years. By posting these early my girls get a sample of the colors and start thinking about what pictures they want to use.<br />
So here goes...The page above is of my youngest grand- daughter, whose favorite thing in the whole world is swinging at the park. I used <span style="color: magenta;">Felicity Jane's <i><b>"What I'm Doing Now"</b></i> kit</span> - which had the perfect combination of bright spring colors. This will be the March calendar page. I loved the wonderful gold glitter "happy" and cute black star sequins. This page is super simple and very fast.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWRzfZG49CaYQRn086rAbKs7IPelwQlftNa3kmWGW0etPFym5wFIB0EQRL6D2TnV2yT4buQV7yv5TZwtAj7glaWdLspF7HC6O2Un6N_aelayqpcAFmJpEV4mB9qdPN7j81fGcROQwWLsw/s1600/Dan+and+Tara.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWRzfZG49CaYQRn086rAbKs7IPelwQlftNa3kmWGW0etPFym5wFIB0EQRL6D2TnV2yT4buQV7yv5TZwtAj7glaWdLspF7HC6O2Un6N_aelayqpcAFmJpEV4mB9qdPN7j81fGcROQwWLsw/s400/Dan+and+Tara.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
The second page finished is for the month of June. A picture of my oldest daughter and her husband on their 10th anniversary cruise. I've used <span style="color: magenta;">Felicity Jane's</span> (I'm a subscriber)<span style="color: magenta;"><i><b>"You and Me"</b> </i>kit.</span> The colors were so perfect for this photo. I haven't journaled on this page yet so technically it's not quite done. Oh well... again this is another fast page - easy peasy to put together but not at all boring (I do the machine stitching for the girls). I loved that large chevron arrow (a cut out) and the cute globe in the upper left hand corner (it's a stamp.) This page should actually take them less than 30 minutes to put together. Although this was a love themed kit I found it very easy to adapt for a beach photo. Stay tuned for more installments coming soon.<br />
PS - Sorry for the bad photos I was shooting with my IPhone in a dark room!<br />

Each year my granddaughters look forward to our annual American Girl Doll Party held a day or two after Christmas. This year our theme was "Let it Snow"(very appropriate this year). The girls get dressed up and walk in single file on a "runway" with their dolls, who are dressed in old clothes. At the table is a special gift for each girl...</div>

I don't know who has more fun at this party - me or my granddaughters. This year each doll got a pair of "Uggs", leggins, a hoodie, and a cute shirt that matched each girls. Then we made snowflake necklaces for each girl and a miniature version for each doll. They were adorable. Julie, below, shows off her new clothes. </div>

New Years Eve day found my family all on the slopes of SoHo (Soldiers Hollow) for 2 hours of fun on the tubing runs. It was hands down the best tubing we've had this year! So AWESOME! This pix is the view of the lodge as I was going up the rope tow and although it </div>

My grandaughters love our annual snowman contest. Every year at Christmastime (providing there is enough snow) we get all the kids together for a snowman building contest. It is serious business. Here are Maddie, Mara, and Tessa in the backyard preparing for a snowy contest! We had two winners this year. Cute snowman (above) won most adorable. His eyes were cherry tomatoes, he had a carrot nose and chocolate chip mouth. The headless snowman below - won most creative.</div>

A few years ago I made this mini album at work (CTMH). It was a great project for me because I was able to use photos of my own family. Since this week is Thanksgiving I've been thinking alot of things I'm grateful for. My husband, children, and grandchildren are right at the top of that list. This mini captured the fun and love that we have together as a family. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

These cute stamp sets helped capture the magic and the fun we were having. Adding a pocket to the mini gives a place to hold journaling strips and adds dimension. Because only a portion of the journaling shows you are tempted to pull them out to finish reading them.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The back side of the pocket had to look just as good as the front. Thinking through the back at the same time as you are making the front is mandatory. The stamped images added lots of interest to the page. All of the striped paper was made by paper piecing with hand stamping so I could get just the right colors.</div>

This is our newest granddaughter little Annabug (Annalise). She will be four months old on the 11th of December. What a cutie pie she is. We are so very<i> grateful</i> that she has come to our family. Grandchildren are such a blessing, I now have 7 and I love each one of them very much.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For my girlfriends who asked me about this crazy tradition of mine here you go....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGfYfNLBm3rzOMUC3N_giHsfSy_ZPFdjoOqImhktMRKxZgOmO6Xfw3BwSVZnnEZc6urmpRX3Y50FtNxpKXkSMVyYHAB4jkKLFVnhMk0IFASVIQ1jSbgCQu_uZWeqmbWjU44SKfBDeT6Yc/s1600/Page+1+Calendar.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGfYfNLBm3rzOMUC3N_giHsfSy_ZPFdjoOqImhktMRKxZgOmO6Xfw3BwSVZnnEZc6urmpRX3Y50FtNxpKXkSMVyYHAB4jkKLFVnhMk0IFASVIQ1jSbgCQu_uZWeqmbWjU44SKfBDeT6Yc/s320/Page+1+Calendar.jpg" width="320" /></a>Each year I get together with my daughters and daughter-in-laws during the Christmas holidays and we spend a day together making 12 scrapbook pages. Here's how it works- I pre-design the 12 pages during the months of October-November. The pages are by necessity fairly generic, I don't include a title on some of the pages (such as this one), but allow the girls to choose their own title later as we build them. As I make the original I go ahead and cut the paper for each families page and gather the embellishments needed to complete the page and stick it all in a zip lock bag. On the outside of the bag I write on a sticky note which stamps I used, which inks, and any other pertinent info. Then when we actually build the page it comes together in about 30 minutes (depending on the difficulty). I really try to keep the designs simple (not easy for me!!) On this page I used Studio Calico's Sock Hop paper kit (actually it was the Bobby Socks and Penny Loafers add ons) and two super cute stamp sets from Close To My Heart (It's your Day and Capture the Date). It was fast and very easy to make and won't take very long at all to duplicate. I left an area on the left side beneath the filmstrip photos for a title and added the cute tag for journaling on. The hand stitching is OPTIONAL -so don't freak out girls! These pages are used on yearly calendars. I make the calendar template on my computer in a 12" x 12" format and include all the birthdays, anniversary's etc. Several years ago my husband built each family a cute wooden calender holder that accommodates the 12" x 12" format. The assignment for the coming year is for each mom (or Dad) to take pictures at the end of each month to be used on the page for the coming month (or they may just use photos they already have!) I always include photo placement paper that is attached with re-positional glue so it is easy to remove and replace with the photo - that way my kids who live out of state don't forget where the photos go. That's it. It's a really fun tradition, a little work for me, but so worth it! If nothing else I know each family will have a scrapbook which has at least one recorded event for each month of the year. </div>

Halloween this year was extra fun with two grandchildren close by. Kevin and Beth's daughter Annalise is 3 months and enjoyed making her first pumpkin at grandma's house. Notice the cute pink footprints. Maddie (Dan and Tara's little girl) of course is my little artist and designed her pumpkin from scratch. I think it's a great take on Zorro, how about you? Love it!</div>

We celebrated this weekend with a special breakfast of Asparagus Quiche. Afterwards we took off to Salt Lake for shopping (more fun for me than him) ending up at Pat's BBQ for some terrific smoked chicken and ribs. I typically make a bunch of birthday cards for my children and grandchildren ahead so that they're ready to go when I am. However this year it has been all last minute, so I'm determined to make two cards each week until I'm caught up. Here are the two I did this week, notice they are the same pattern, same colors (that makes it go quicker) but very different feelings to them. One is fun and the other more subdued. I enjoyed making them despite the fact that it's what I do all day long for work! They were both pretty quick to make, took about 30 minutes each. I used a CTMH set called Life's Good (D1495) the papers are from American Crafts. Also used the CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge (love it!).Cynthia Ludlowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15344332264374648136noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5494983008248807056.post-7570847645442706872011-11-04T22:44:00.000-07:002011-11-04T22:44:46.518-07:00Remembering Summer<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirx8WWq6MELg5Jxf98uXSsRXsYNNEIKzmKVFydLdQbA2L_8Z3BWPmi3pUD0xKlE1d68Z-X9EYaY1XVhO6R4lhXOFFM6twcRDK_BWqbcPbVR04dbb6jtiooiS_6SXhVfhTIzB7N6Bm0wYI/s1600/DSC_0306.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirx8WWq6MELg5Jxf98uXSsRXsYNNEIKzmKVFydLdQbA2L_8Z3BWPmi3pUD0xKlE1d68Z-X9EYaY1XVhO6R4lhXOFFM6twcRDK_BWqbcPbVR04dbb6jtiooiS_6SXhVfhTIzB7N6Bm0wYI/s400/DSC_0306.JPG" width="267" /></a></div>As fall settles in here in Utah I find myself thinking backwards to summer and many of the wonderful times we shared with our family. The following are just a few of the photos of scenes we really enjoyed while visiting with our children and grandchildren. Forgive my very bad poetry, but I've used the lyrics to a well know children's song, which my grandchildren will enjoy (nonsensical grandma).Cynthia Ludlowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15344332264374648136noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5494983008248807056.post-89467835367985653842011-11-04T22:31:00.000-07:002011-11-04T22:35:35.703-07:00Oh what do you do in the summertime?<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

Although the snow was lots of fun at Christmas for making snowmen with my grandkids, by the end of May it's was getting way old! We've had over a 200% snowpack this year and have had flooding as a result. Our neighborhood actually had to do some sandbagging as we live close to a river. The water is just starting to recede and sand bags are being removed, so hopefully summer is on it's way at last. My grandson Kyle just turned twelve, a special occasion for a young man who belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was found worthy to receive the priesthood and be ordained to the office of a deacon by his father Matthew. My husband and I traveled to his home in California to see him ordained. I am so proud of him, he is really a great kid.Cynthia Ludlowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15344332264374648136noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5494983008248807056.post-48173959204771209502011-02-12T17:27:00.000-08:002011-02-12T17:27:39.240-08:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcXvZTKBnjF_x0wuxvSOLLYUbqhAWsBJWtRqjYWC5v6_uRug8GtuEhd_jL1JsJwgVLAtJAz4kEvP-msCJSN_fBuFNgtaM-PcCoZBrEZgs0k3lE8srjCmYHyV2CVoJeiPc4akkoKswJehs/s1600/DSC_0778.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcXvZTKBnjF_x0wuxvSOLLYUbqhAWsBJWtRqjYWC5v6_uRug8GtuEhd_jL1JsJwgVLAtJAz4kEvP-msCJSN_fBuFNgtaM-PcCoZBrEZgs0k3lE8srjCmYHyV2CVoJeiPc4akkoKswJehs/s320/DSC_0778.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

We used the Ohio Star block with a center strip of blank muslin for autographs. Each person chose fabric (of their choice) and brought enough to share with every member that wanted to participate. They pre-signed their name in the middle muslin block and then each participant took one of each block plus one of their own. Participants took home the fabric - cut the blocks out and pieced them. Here is one of the completed quilt tops being shown at our monthly show and tell.<br />

We had fun this week carving pumpkins for Halloween. My daughter Tara and her family came over for Family Night and we covered our kitchen counter with guts. Pumpkin guts that is. Madison could hardly wait for Halloween. She wanted to dress as a pirate because she thought princesses and stuff were not scary enough! Mom compromised by making it a cute pirate costume. Way to go Tara on sewing such a cute scary costume. Watch out though - she may never want a cute costume again!<br />

When Trick or Treat time finally arrived it was a cold and we were worried that Madison might not get to go out since we had a huge rainstorm at about 5:30 p.m. But it cleared up about an hour later and off she went with mommy and daddy. Madison informed me that she hoped to get chocolate and candy corn because that was all she liked - go figure! I shot this picture from my deck just as Madison was leaving to Trick or Treat - the rainstorm was followed by an amazing rainbow.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">Is anything quite like Disneyland - nope! All decked out for Halloween it was absolutely gorgeous. And of course nothing is better than spending time there with my family. Although we had record breaking heat 113 degrees! Whew I thought I would melt and I'm sure I ate about 10 frozen lemonades. But it was still super fun. Watching the grandkids and kids have a great time just being together and running from ride to ride. For me personally it was about getting to talk with each one and catch up on their lives. Here are a few shots I took of the family while we were busy playing hard. </div><br />

Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. I have planned what I will plant in my vegetable garden and have already ordered and started the seed. I love getting ready for spring and the new garden. The seeds are started indoors under lights where they are warm and well protected. A couple of weeks ago I began to takes my plants outside on good days to begin to harden them off. At left are a few photos of the ones resting on my deck having their afternoon sun. I've also been so busy getting cold hardy plants into the ground. I already have peas, spinach, potatoes, scallions, parsnips and onions in the ground. In addition I've planted three new blueberry bushes. My strawberries and asparagus are up and so are my perennial herbs, chives, oregano, thyme, and tarragon. This year I've started a variety of plants from seed, a few old favorites and a few newcomers. As always there are tomatoes (a couple of new varieties), lots of different peppers, especially the ones we use in our salsa, and my favorite annual herbs (basil, savory, sage, rosemary, marjoram and dill) . I also have started eggplant, zinnias, and a mesclun lettuce mix (new this year), and of course our favorite Walla Walla onions. The season here in Utah is not terribly long (speaking as one who lived in southern California for 25 years) only 125 days. So I won't put most of this into the ground until after Mother's Day. Some of it won't go into the garden until closer to June 1st. This week I will start my cucumbers, squash and succession crops. My trees are in bloom and so are the tulips. Spring is really here, although we did have a little snow last week. I know there will still be a little bad weather but hopefully not much!Cynthia Ludlowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15344332264374648136noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5494983008248807056.post-66823283634987329262010-04-25T13:54:00.000-07:002010-04-25T13:54:41.985-07:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw7qcER_UVoWL8gXVSuwz1vlXCMdDyvOxEWpKfJjX6oMOZ9E311SE8ovBV1cTKxZqiAisMVpZ3x-wM5t-VvP5UeMbG9KwDXh8zkJGkX7PwRiviJ2kVDQps-3J_tu2r_eHxTkb_xMOjEbo/s1600/20100423_1800.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw7qcER_UVoWL8gXVSuwz1vlXCMdDyvOxEWpKfJjX6oMOZ9E311SE8ovBV1cTKxZqiAisMVpZ3x-wM5t-VvP5UeMbG9KwDXh8zkJGkX7PwRiviJ2kVDQps-3J_tu2r_eHxTkb_xMOjEbo/s200/20100423_1800.JPG" width="133" /></a></div>I attended my oldest brother Sonny's wedding this weekend. This is his second marriage, his first wife passed away with cancer almost 2 years ago. His new wife Rosa seems to be a real sweetheart and I hope they will be very happy together. I snapped this picture of them right after the wedding ceremony. She is from Venezuela and speaks only broken English, but her friend tells me she is a marvelous cook, so I hope to get a few pointers from her. I told her if she would teach me Spanish I would attempt to teach her English. The funny thing is that my brother speaks only broken Spanish - although I feel he understands most of what she says. This should be a very busy and interesting couple of months while we all learn to communicate with each other.Cynthia Ludlowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15344332264374648136noreply@blogger.com0
